Remembering Ibn-e-Insha, Best Humorists of Urdu


Sher Muhammad Khan known as Ibn e Insha born on 15 June 1927.

He was born in Phillaur tehsil of Jalandhar District, Punjab. He got his early education from his indigenous residing. Insha completed his B.A degree from University of Punjab and ensuing, his M.A from University of Karachi.

He has associated with both governmental and non-governmental sectors. He has been a member of Radio Pakistan, the ministry of culture and National book center of Pakistan. He also served United Nation for some time and this enabled him to visit a lot of places. Due to his visit of these many countries he wrote some travelogues.

He was one of the best humorists of Urdu. Insha was known as one of the best poets and writers of his generation. He also translated Chinese poems into Urdu.

Ibn-e-Insha has written a variety of writings like:

Billo ka basta Khumar e gandum Nagri Nagri Phira Musafir

The whole of his work appreciated by Urdu writers and audience.

He died on 11th January 1978 in London but subsequently buried in Karachi, Pakistan.
